Why use BrickPlay.
The Toy Brick Recycling Company offers workshops for school aged children through school holiday and out-of-school programs. Called BrickPlay, the workshops blend LEGO’s System for Learning framework with methodologies from LEGO SeriousPlay.
The aim is to give your child an opportunity to use experimentation to problem solve and to learn reasoning by sharing and reflecting on their ideas. BrickPlay allows your child to reach their potential by fostering twenty-first century skills to create active, collaborative, and lifelong learners.
Our workshop facilitators use open-ended tasks to guide your child through a set of activities, each building on the knowledge of the earlier task,
- A topic or task introduces activity, and your child may ask clarifying questions to build on their existing knowledge.
- A building activity promotes experimentation and collaboration to construct a tangible item to express your child’s ideas.
- A chance for your child to reflect and consider what they learnt and share ideas with each other concludes each activity.
School Holiday Programs
The Toy Brick Recycling Company offers half-day and full day workshops around the Perth Metropolitan area during each of the school breaks.
Each workshop focuses on fostering communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills by encouraging your child to experiment and explore as they gain new knowledge and sharing ideas with other children.
Suggested workshop topics include:
- Whose car is the fastest?
- Can you build a better robot?
- Let us make a movie?
- Can we make this into a game?
- What would you like to build?
